With Your Support, Change Happens

School Supplies

Many children in our community enter school without supplies.  With rising costs of all materials, school supplies alone are averaging $700 per student in Indiana (Journal&Courier, 2022). We are now donating bulk school supplies to every school in our district!  Here’s how you can help continue this cause:
  • Sponsor a student by purchasing supplies from the school supply list for one or more children of any grade, and contact us to schedule a pickup or drop off.
  • Purchase bulk supplies from our Amazon Wish List.  We’ll deliver them straight to the schools to be utilized for children in need.
  • Make a monetary donation of any amount, and we’ll do the shopping! $150 covers initial school supplies for one elementary age child.

Bags for Foster Children

Children in foster care are often transferred from family to family with no luggage or bags to carry their personal belongings.  Their possessions are most often stuffed into garbage bags.  We aim to give these children a sense of dignity, by providing transfer kits, including suitcases, duffel bags, backpacks, toiletries and comfort items.  We gather the items and deliver to designated areas in Jay County (DCS, YSB, etc.).  In 2021, we delivered transfer kits for approx. 30 children.
Here’s how you can help:
  • Make a monetary donation of any amount, and we’ll do the shopping.  $50 covers a duffel bag, backpack, hairbrush, comb, toothbrush and paste, teddy bear, blanket, coloring book, crayons, and book OR a medium sized suitcase.
  • Purchase bulk items from our Amazon Wish List.
  • Donate very gently used or new items.  Contact us to schedule a drop off or pickup.

Lice Kits

Head lice is common in public schools, but can be easily prevented and managed.  Many students miss school due to lice infestations, impacting attendance and overall education.  Contrary to popular belief, lice is common among ALL socioeconomic statuses, so virtually everyone is vulnerable.  Our goal is to provide lice prevention and management kits to each school nurse so students who encounter issues are provided with a kit as needed.
Here’s how you can help:
  • Make a monetary donation, and we will assemble kits and deliver.  $30 covers lice repel shampoo, lice repel conditioner, and prevention spray.
  • Purchase from our Amazon Wish List.  We’ll assemble kits and deliver.

Bravery Bags

Do you know a child from Jay county who has recently been hospitalized at any hospital for any medical condition? Let us know, and we will provide a gift bag of items to help them be brave as they undergo treatments and recover! Would you like to support this cause? Click the link to donate.

Operation Kozy Kids

We are teaming up with the Youth Service Bureau of Jay County to collect much needed items for keeping children warm this winter.

Their list of requests includes:

  • Coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for all ages and sizes of children 0-18 yrs.
  • Twin size bedding, including blankets, pillows, comforters, and sheets
  • Bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths

How you can help:

  • Make a monetary donation of any amount, and we’ll purchase and deliver whatever items are most needed.
  • Shop from our Amazon list titled “Winter Children’s Items”, and we’ll deliver the items to YSB as soon as they arrive.
  • Contact us to donate NEW items only, and we’ll schedule a pickup or delivery.

Operating Expenses

If donating for operating expenses, the board will use the donated money first for any of the causes where extra funding is needed.  If no extra funds are needed, we’ll use it to purchase stamps, thank you cards, receipt paper, contact labels, website fees, etc. that otherwise come out of pocket.

You can help kids, just be kids
